a little off topic

i've been enjoying some rooftop smokin' this summer.  a couple of pictures to share.  making my own sauces, rubs, and sprays is a blast...

So i was riding from the U-district to the Sounders FC vs. Chelsea FC friendly with time to burn.  I heard great things about Kakao Chocolate and Coffee.  The explosion of amenities catering to Amazon's 10K workforce moving to South Lake Union has been to the benefit of all Seattle folk.  In any case, i decided to finally get coffee at Kakao.

I immediately noticed a La Marzocco Linea (didn't notice if it was souped up or not, PID, etc.) and a dual grinder which i believe is made by Swift.  Cool space, if not a little sparse.  Its real sparse if i'm calling it sparse.  i like bare.  this place felt a bit like an abandoned movie set.  i ordered a short americano.  they serve Herkimer.  while i like Herkimer, it is a little roasty for me.  i don't know if my tastes have changed, as i once thought of Herkimer as my only other option to what we serve, or if their roast has become slightly darker.

My americano was good.  It was what i assume Herkimer would want served.  i enjoyed it.  it had balance.  it has a hint of acidity.  But it wasn't special.  there was a hint of ash, as when coffee is over-roasted to my taste, but i believe this flavor is what most people have come to expect from coffee.  i was off to an amazing match at the CLink.  but not before another cup of coffee, just me and my Bianchi.

more to come...
